Thomas Ginnona

Biography

Thomas Ginnona is a young composer particularly interested in creating musical atmosphere and conveying setting and narrative through his music. He has written several pieces with a wide variety of instrumentations, including solo works, small chamber ensemble works, and electronic/electroacoustic works. His electronic piece, “Subconscious,” was selected and featured at the Research on Contemporary Composition Conference 2021 at the University of North Georgia.

Thomas is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Music Theory and Composition from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and previously completed a Professional Performance Certificate in Music Composition as well as a BA in Music with a Music Technology Option from the Pennsylvania State University. He has studied composition with Dr. Adam Silverman, Dr. Robert Maggio, Dr. Baljinder Sekhon, Dr. Sarah Genevieve Burghart Rice, Dr. Paul Barsom, and Dr. Alex Heppelmann and has studied recording and music technology with Dr. Kevin Stahl, Dr. Sarah Genevieve Burghart Rice, Dr. Mark Ballora, and Curtis Craig.

Thomas is currently working on a cello and live electronics piece and also recently completed a chamber work recorded by musicians from the Network for New Music. In his free time, Thomas enjoys playing percussion, listening to vinyl records, and playing with his dog, Finn.
